Birthdays and Baseball

This weekend was a really fun, family weekend. Friday night consisted of the usual routine: pick up Dyson, have dinner as a family, Dyson's bathtime, then bedtime and then settle in next to my hubby on the couch to catch up on our shows from that week. Saturday we hung around the house, played with Dyson and then Kelly (J.D.'s sister) called to invite us to El Matador for dinner with the family in honor of my mother-in-law's 21st birthday. (Just kidding, she's obviously not 21, but we let her claim that she is!)

I love this one....notice how red her face is!!

Happy Birthday, Debbie!

Mmmmm, cheesecake!

Kelly and her youngest, Chance, acting silly.

Dale and Dyson. Sorry, buddy, the cheesecake is Grandma's!

My hubby and I with his cheeseball grin that haunts all of our pictures...

Why is everyone hiding their face??

Then today, we woke up and headed to Venus for a day of T-ball!! It was Dyson's first game and boy, was he excited! There was about an hour of opening ceremonies for all of the teams playing for the city of Venus, so we had plenty of time to grab a burger before the game. The boosters had barbecue grills set up with all the works. Pretty soon it was time to hit the field!

"Introducing number 9, Dyson Sowers!"

This is Tanner, the coaches son, and boy is he good!!

"Alright, buddy, hit it outta the park!"

"I got this, Coach!"

"Now when he hits the ball, you run hard to second, okay?"

Wait for it, wait for it....

Go!!!

And he scores!

"Did you see me, Summer?"

Victory is so sweet.

"I am proud of each and every one of you!"
(He really was saying that)

"Now go hit the showers!"

(Just kidding!)

Good Friend, Good Eats!

This afternoon I met with my good friend, Danielle (who I haven't seen in FOREVER!) for lunch. I met her at a restaurant in Aubrey called The Prairie House. I'd never eaten there and was anxious to try it out. The food was really good. Just what you would expect- homestyle cooking, which also happens to be one of my favorites.

Anywho, seeing Danielle today was awesome. The last time I'd actually hung out with her, she had just found out she was expecting a baby. Today I finally got to meet the little man, Drake. It was about time, he'll be one next month!

And to top off a great day, I came home to this:

A new backyard fence!! Thanks, honey! Now if you can just tackle that garage.... =)

A Day On the Farm....

Yesterday we headed over to my mother-in-law's house for awhile. We had borrowed her truck so we could go pick up a four-wheeler J.D. had bought from his former boss for next to nothing. They had a colt earlier that morning, and we were all eager to get a good look at him. He was precious. Needless to say, Dyson was smitten. I think he secretly wanted to take him home. He always tries to convince us that there's plenty of room in the backyard for a horse, and his Daddy quickly reminds him there's barely enough room back there for our dog! Can't blame him for trying, though.

I like to call this one "Roots".

"Barrels" of Fun

Well, here you have it folks....my husband's third grade class picture. He came home from picking Dyson up from his mother (Misty) last night and had a few old trinkets of his with him. Apparently she had found some things of his that she thought he might want back. Can you guess which one is my handsome husband?

So, after J.D. and Dyson changed and got ready, we all went to a barrel horse banquet as guests of my mother-in-law, Debbie. She recently won first place in the Senior 3D division, so she was being honored (along with the winners from all the other divisions) with a custom saddle. It really was a good time. The food was great, Dyson had a good time playing with all the other young cowboys and cowgirls, and we enjoyed visiting with family. Kelly and the boys were there as well as good 'ol Dale. We were all very proud of Debbie and of her fiance', Curt, who took home a couple of prizes himself!
